Hawana / Salalah

The place today

Salalah is the capital of Dhofar, with an international airport, a major container port and the existing Hawana marina on the resort strip west of the city.

It is already the standard stop for cruising yachts crossing the Indian Ocean, and the only southern point with full clearance, provisioning and air links.

• An established provisioning and clearance stop on the ocean route.
• Green hills and cool air during the khareef; strong monsoon conditions offshore in the same months.

• Mirbat lies approximately 40 nautical miles to the north.
• Distances are indicative great-circle estimates with a routing allowance, not navigational data.
