What a boat needs between Suez and Singapore

Yacht services, refit and logistics

7 MIN READ

The service gap on the route

Between the eastern Mediterranean and South-East Asia there are comparatively few places where a large yacht can be lifted, stored and worked on to international standards. Crews on the Indian Ocean route plan their maintenance around that scarcity, often carrying problems for thousands of miles.

Any coast that offers a credible technical yard on that route changes the calculation — not because it is prettier, but because it is closer than the alternative.

What a technical hub actually contains

  • Travel lifts sized for the target fleet, plus hardstanding and dry storage.
  • Painting, composite, engineering, rigging, electrical and electronics workshops.
  • Bonded parts import and customs handling that works in days, not weeks.
  • Crew accommodation, provisioning and airport access.
  • Training pipelines so the workforce is local rather than flown in.

Duqm in the concept

In the proposed network Duqm is positioned as the technical heart, because industrial marine capability already exists there in the form of a deep-water port and drydock complex. That positioning is a conceptual proposal and would require commercial and engineering validation before any commitment.
