Marine life and diving on the Omani coast

What crews encounter

• Dolphins are commonly seen along much of the coast, and whale activity is documented in Omani waters.
• Green turtles nest in internationally significant numbers on the eastern beaches around Ras Al Hadd, under legal protection.
• Diving around Musandam, the Muscat area and Mirbat offers clear winter water, walls, wrecks and reef systems.
• Seasonal upwelling driven by the monsoon makes Omani waters unusually productive — the reason the fishing industry and the marine life are both strong.

Why this is a commercial asset

Experience-led yachting is driven by what a guest can see and do, not by the berth. Wildlife encounters, diving and untouched coastline are the content that differentiates this coast from every marina-and-restaurant destination in the region.

And why it constrains development

The same asset sets hard limits. Nesting beaches, reef systems and sensitive khors cannot absorb dense development, and any marina proposal on this coast requires full environmental assessment before it can be taken seriously. In the network concept, several locations — Ras Al Hadd and Shuwaymiyah in particular — are deliberately restrained for this reason.
